Sharon Bradley (RaaWee K12 Solutions) and Paul Carampatan(Aldine ISD) will share practical strategies for understanding the factors driving chronic absenteeism, strengthening campus capacity, leveraging technology, and engaging families and community partners before attendance challenges escalate to court involvement.
During this session, participants will:
• Deepen their understanding of the growing factors contributing to chronic absenteeism and the distinction between chronic absenteeism and truancy
• Gain practical, actionable strategies for promoting student attendance and moving beyond a compliance-only approach
• Explore how to integrate tiered, attendance-focused supports and interventions into an existing MTSS framework
• Learn ways to build staff capacity and use technology and actionable attendance data to identify needs and support earlier intervention
• Discover how Attendance Review Boards can bring school staff, families, and community stakeholders together to co-design solutions for persistent attendance challenges
